Uh... summer?

The summer has been... well, a summer. It started out with a trip to NS, and a beautiful wedding: Then on July 6th, we brought a couple of newbies into our home.

I've been spending my time taking pictures of flowers and messing in the garden:

We've been to the beach:

and it's been pretty nice.

Not everything's been wonderful. Last week, I had surgery that basically confirmed that having babies is not in the cards for me:

(I will write about that on my regular blog, when I'm ready).

I have about three weeks left of summer. I hope to make the most of it.

Every morning, I go for a walk. I'm hideously out of shape, so I started out with 15-minute walks, and have been adding 5 minutes every week. I'm up to 40 minutes now, and it's getting to be a habit. I go out around 6 am, so there's no one around watching me drag my sorry ass around (I walk really slowly. I mean, I'm walking as fast as I can, but I have short legs for such a tall person, and generally I can't keep up with fast-walkers). Plus it's cool listening to the birds and looking at peoples' flowers without them thinking I'm a crazy lady on the street in front of their house. I usually take with me my watch, my DS thing to measure my activity level, and the cellphone, in case mentalists jump out at me. If a mentalist ever jumps out at me, I can call the mentalist wrangler hotline to come and take him away.

The cellphone also has a camera on it, so I take some photos sometimes. This is from about 6:15 this morning:

and now we're received about 45 mm of rain, with another 10-20 to come before tomorrow morning.
... as my husband says "Well, at least it's not snow."

So, it's been awhile. The reason being that my little laptop is being a bit of a dink, and although I've been taking plenty of photos, I haven't been able to get them from the SD card onto the computer. And am too lazy to go into the other room and use the desktop (which is, really, my husband's domain).
Luckily he isn't too lazy to help me out and the other day put a bunch of pictures onto Picnik for me. Which I now can put on here. And you can look at them, if you're interested. Which you might not be.

I went out in the garden over the weekend. Remember my previous post with a picture of a sunflower? These are the remains of my sunflower patch:

Yeah, I left them out all winter, poor darlings, to be buried in snow and to feed the birds. I ruthlessly tore them down after taking these pictures, though. Time to get ready for a new planting season.

I am just really excited that summer seems to be on its way. Of course we had snow in May last year so I might be wrong, but I'm just holding on tightly to the fact that we had sun today.

Sometimes I give an assignment and I give two weeks to get it done, with clear instructions, and all my expectations laid out... and I receive something back that looks like this (that is a random search I did for "really bad homework", it's not an actual assignment that anyone I have ever taught has handed in - close, but not quite).

Then there are days when you can tell they put so much effort into their work, and I am extremely proud of them. Today is one of those days.

I have been trying to photograph the black and purple bruise that is currently residing on my knuckles (I have no idea what I did - I do tend to talk with my hands so it's likely that I smacked it somewhere in my travels) but they all just came out blurry.

I'm sure you're relieved that instead, I am posting this overly Picnik'd photo of our stereo system. CD, radio, LP, baby. That's how we roll.

It's been very, very grey around here lately. No snow, but rain, or just cloudy. It was glorious to see the sun yesterday morning. Photos taken in the parking lot at work (I know I post a lot of pics I take either at work, or on the way to/from there... that's life). Last week at this time, we had two days' worth of snowstorms. Today, it was 10C, which is melting the six feet of snow faster than you could say Jack Robinson. FASTER THAN THAT! There's still ice on the harbour, so the warm weather is making plenty of fog.

This is the one true sign of winter around here. The smelt shacks go up, and people sit around in sheds freezing their asses off in order to catch tiny little sardine-sized fish that no one eats anyway.

Here is a photo that I took on Friday after work. Not only was my hair bothering me (wigs are ridiculous), but since I barely ever wear makeup my skin is all super pale and ALSO, what the hell is that scratch on my chin? Maybe I have the Sixth Sense and ghosts are trying to communicate with me!

I love this little dude! Here's another photo of Judd. And of my favourite pyjamas! At this point, he was sitting on my lap, eating my pants. He made a small hole. That was definitely not cool or awesome. I let him know, but he didn't seem to care. He was all "Whatever, lady. I see flowers, and I eat flowers. So suck it up, Princess!"

Judd Nelson can sometimes have a very bad attitude.

Judd Nelson is not a very hairy buck. I think that's why he and I get along. Anyway, here he is chowing down on an orange. I find it hilarious that he likes to hide in things, so we give him a box to hide in. Then, while he's hiding in the box, he also chews it up. So that eventually, he has nothing left to hide in but maybe a 1 cm x 1 cm square of cardboard, which he's also still chewing on. He thinks he's covered, though.

Look at his hairy little nose! And his hairless little gut! I like that he's chubby and bald, like me!

I can find whatever I want, easily. Plus I never use the thing; I'm always walking around so basically it's a place where I drop off my crap. However my superior is upset that my desk is messy and wants me to clean it. This vexes me. But I will do as she wishes because nobody actually likes getting fired.

Due to the Illness, and then the insanity of going back to work and not having time, I've kind of ignored this blog. Which mostly would be fine, except it's called "EVERY damn day," not "Whenever the hell I feel like it so you can kiss my ass if you're looking for a new photo".

That would be a great name for a blog, in case anyone is looking.

Anyway. I will now post a bunch of photos so that you can ooh and aah to your heart's content. Again, they're mostly of my head, but you can ooh and aah at my head's uhm... immensity.

I have been keeping our bathroom company since about 2:30 am. Things feel that they need to come out of my body, and they're not really particular about which exit they use. I went in to school this morning (dressed in my pyjamas-- not the ones you can see here, peeking out from my Couch Nap Quilt (tm)-- those are in the wash right now due to The Illness) to get the rest of my grades onto the computer there. It was fine, except the driving part and having to pull over to barf.

ANYWAY! In this photo you can see my cute "got monkey?" socks which were a Christmas gift from my leem, my second-favourite pyjama bottoms, and a piece of the Couch Nap Quilt (tm). It is the supreme couch napping blanket. Everyone should have one. But not this one. This one is mine.

Cartography

Over the past year or so, bits of my hair have started growing back. First came my eyebrows and eyelashes; now some of the hair on my head is coming in. It was about two inches long, and black, last night when I asked Rob to shave it off. I'm happy that my hair's growing, don't get me wrong, it's just that it is as annoying as hell when it's just patchy like this.

Oh well though. It may never all grow back in, but at least I'll have a head that looks like a map of the world.
